Contraindications - Conditions
SomaTracTM Inversion and Decompression Therapy can offer a number of benefits for both specific health problems and general well being. As with any wellness program, it’s essential that you consult with your health care professional before beginning an inversion therapy regimen.
MEDICATIONS:
If you’re on medication for high blood pressure, circulatory problems or dizziness, or taking anti coagulants (blood thinners; to include the use of Aspirin in high doses), you should seek the advice of a doctor before inverting.
In the case of some health conditions, inversion should be avoided, or conducted with only the approval and under the supervision of a licensed health professional. This list is intended only as reference, and is not comprehensive. Please consult with your health care professional before beginning.
Weight, excessive: People who suffer from extreme obesity are often predisposed to other issues and should use caution before undergoing an inversion program. Likewise, exceeding your SomaTrac’s weight capacity could prevent a serious safety hazard.
Hypertension: High blood pressure is one that exceeds 140/90 and, although inversion therapy may actually lower your blood pressure, inversion should not be undertaken if you do not have control of your blood pressure or permission from your physician
Heart or circulatory disorders: If you suffer any condition that involves the circulatory system.
Surgery, recent: If you’ve recently undergone back surgery, had a joint replacement, etc.
Bone, joint or ligament weakness: Such as osteoporosis or recent and unhealed fractures, to include recently damaged ligaments.
Eye problems: Such as glaucoma, pink eye or retinal detachment.
Infections, acute: Such as middle ear, joint, eye and sinus infections.
Traumatic injuries: Consult with your doctor if you’ve ever suffered a severe spinal trauma or head injury.
Hernias: Inversion may put undue strain on hiatal or ventral hernias and you should consult with your physician if you suffer from either condition.
Stroke (recent): If you recently suffered a stroke or ischemic attack (“mini stroke”), you should consult with your physician or therapist.
Pregnancy: As with any exercise program, pregnant women should consult with their physicians before beginning treatment.
Fainting: May indicate a greater problem and should be discussed with your doctor.
Disorientation: If you suffer from disorientation when upside down or laying down.
